Way south of the Border, Tierra del Fuego

MARTILLO ISLAND
TIERRA DEL FUEGO, ARGENTINA
Penguins cluster on the rocky shores of Martillo Island in Tierra del Fuego, the extreme southern tip of South America. Nearby, the outpost town of Ushuaia is the final stop on the Pan American Highway and the city closest to the South Pole—most Antarctic expeditions depart from here.

David Caudill in his seminal book, does mention that the Araucanian Indians migrated from the Pacific border of Argentina but alas not how far south.
